Kilmainham Gaol Museum

Opened in 1796 this Dublin County Gaol was home to common criminals and political prisoners alike. Some of the most notable prisoners include those involved in the Easter Rising of 1916. The Gaol was closed in 1924 and later restored in the 1960s and handed over to the state in 1986.
